Nadim and Andleeb Hanif at the World Curry Festival in Penang, Malaysia, where Andleeb took to the stage for live curry demos.

The couple feel that the authentic taste of “home-style cooking” has been lost with a rise of commercial production in many restaurants.

Punjabi cuisine benefits from influences all across the Indian subcontinent, and carries some of the most diverse and amazingly tantalising flavours.

“Food is an international language that unites us all. What better way to build community relations?” Andleeb Hanif

The couple have been in business together for almost 20 years.

Their media company, which publishes the country largest free circulated newspaper – Asian Express, has won numerous industry accolades.

As well as having a focus on British Asian community news, they work closely with councils and government bodies throughout Britain. Much of their work focuses on community cohesion.

Best curry in North Leeds: “I ate here with my two daughters (one of whom is an excellent cook and has very high standards when it comes to Indian food). It was obvious that the dishes had all been freshly cooked to order (unlike so many curry houses where the sauces have been cooked in large batches and sat around in a saucepan, waiting for their next customer. The ambiance is lovely, the owner extremely helpful and attentive. It was a lovely evening and I would highly recommend anyone looking for a delicious curry to visit Fanoosh.” TripAdvisor review

Spectacular! “It’s hard to summarise what a fantastic place Fanoosh is. From the opulent decor to the attentive staff who really go above and beyond I could not recommend the place more. The food is sublime and true to the ethnicity of its origins. We have had the most wonderful evening celebrating our friends birthday. If you’re thinking about booking, do it, we will be back!” TripAdvisor review

A lovely restaurant of Punjabi cuisine: “Decided to try this restaurant out and we wasn’t disappointed. Dishes were amazing full of flavour and served hot which you don’t get at many restaurants. Rogan Josh and chicken with spinach and keema with peas and lamb karachi were lovely dishes that we had. Mushroom rice is amazing with lots of flavour and very tasty. Owner recommended to have it desi style as we wanted it to be spicy and tasted like home cooked food.” TripAdvisor review
